What Am I listening to? May 2026
Goldie Presents Rufige Kru- Malice in Wonderland
Veracocha- Carte Blanche (Scot Project 2024 Refix)
Trance has really gotten away from its melodic, emotional roots in the last decade or so- queue that whole bit about how "melodic techno" is just a repackaging of 90s trance music updated for a modern audience. So it's really satisfying to listen to a track that isn't afraid to lean into the big, melodic drops and bright chords that separate it from house and techno. And combine that with the lil vocal sample? Pure fricken euphoria.

Yob- Adrift in the Ocean
Almost long enough to be an EP in and of itself, this one churns and builds. And then builds and builds some more. It's intense, harsh and chaotic, but also strangely catchy? The way the vocals thrash around like a ship caught in a storm is the icing on the cake.

Imogen X DJ Stingray 313- A New Earth
Classic Detroit techno at its catchiest, grooviest, and strangest. It's really crazy to hear something built around the classic Drexciyan framework can still sound so fresh and modern when it's been around since the 80s. Sometimes it pays more to create and follow your own trends then to chase others'.
